It's been an arduously long off-season for those Group 10 regulars who didn't play sports elsewhere during the winter of 2020 but that doesn't mean Orange CYMS' captain-coach Daniel Mortimer will rush his troops back ahead of the winter.

The premiership-winning NRL playmaker is set to wait until after New Year's to call his Green and Golds out of the woodwork as he wants to make sure he doesn't overwork his guys before the season.
- "The last thing I want is to have a big, drawn out season," Mortimer said.

"I'll probably get a core group of boys together before Christmas and start the official pre-season in early January and go from there.
"I know the boys will be keen to get out there and I'm hoping to get the same faces back and playing."
CYMS looked like one of the most promising sides Group 10 had to offer before the season got underway as they took out the Bathurst knockout with a razor close win over Orange Hawks.
Mortimer is confident the potential the showed in the lead-up to the regular season will be more than enough to entice the majority of the playing group back to Wade Park.
"I'd like to think we did enough at the start of the season to get the boys back," he said.
"I don't plan on coming in and changing too much... I still want to give the boys who are there the opportunity."
For CYMS, the likes of Cam Jones and Ben McAlpine are expected to roll up for pre-season training in the lead-up to what's hoped to be a business-as-usual Group 10 season.
The Green and Golds will be hoping to bring back the likes of Sia Nemani and Ethan Bereyne as both big men experienced successful seasons in other competitions.
