Phoebe Litchfield and David Hunter are set to add to Kinross' attacking ranks

And not only will the introduction of Litchfield greatly boost the students' run-scoring ability, it will reveal a great deal about where the 17-year-old's game is at as she will face some of the toughest bowlers the Central West has to offer.

This summer will also see the addition of who Kinross master in charge of cricket Ben Ronald describes as a 'cricket dad' as David Hunter is set to accompany his son Luke as he and Litchfield will play at the pointy end of the side's batting order.

Ronald understands the duo will add a great deal of experience and potency to the line-up but is still aware it's largely a men vs. boys scenario for them and that expectations always need to be tempered.

"We need to be a little bit realistic and understand that we're the only school-based team in the comp," he said.

"Our goal is to develop these kids into the future but I don't think they would be disappointed if they didn't make the finals.

"The last few years we have won between one and three games each year and we will enter the majority of our games as underdogs."

But, it's the no pressure approach that Ronald enjoys and says the other teams have a lot more to lose when they come up against the kids.

"For some of the men's sides, I think it's a bit embarrassing to lose to Kinross," he said.

"So, hopefully we can go out there and embarrass a few sides this season."

Another thing that works in Kinross' favour is the cancellation of the school-based Douglas Shield that shapes as the side's primary motivation year-after-year.

"It's good because this year we've got all our eggs in the first-grade basket," he said.

"Our schedule isn't as busy as usual so it's possible that our players will be fresher."

Ronald has a fair idea of the BOIDC power rankings but can't separate any of the sides as he thinks the competition will be as close as it's ever been in 2020-21.

"City and Cavs obviously ran away with it last year but I think these Bathurst teams are really going to want to show their might this year," he said.
