Central West Police District Chief Inspector Dave Harvey said a grey Ford Fiesta had been parked and secured in Edward Street on Tuesday night .
However, between 8.15pm and 9.55pm someone stole the car.
Chief Inspector Harvey said about 2.50am on Wednesday police received phone calls about a car on fire in Leeds Parade, about 300 metres south of the Northern Distributor Road.
NSW fire and Rescue also attended and extinguished the blaze, however the car was destroyed.
Firefighters obtained the car's registration from the number plates on the vehicle.
