- Gary Blowes, Blowes Real Estate
While Domain has not released the exact number of searches for each region it is understood Orange has seen about 1.5 million hits since the start of 2019.
Blowes Real Estate principal Gary Blowes said it was not surprising. "It's always been popular, It shows good returns," he said.
Mr Blowes said Orange did not need to rely on the rural sector for income as did some other regional areas.
He said there was demand from capital city buyers to live on acreage around Orange but many people sought houses in town.
However, Mr Blowes said the coronavirus was causing uncertainty in the market.
"It's affecting everything. Banks are a little more reluctant to lend. People are a little more cautious. Nobody knows what's going to happen next," he said.
"We're one of the few [real estate companies] that have stayed open. Our residential rent roll is holding very well but the commercial rent roll is a disaster.
"The big test is going to be the 30th of June. Will things get a bit easier after that or will it get worse?" he said.
One Agency Orange director Ash Brown said the housing market was resilient.
We're still selling houses and still selling them at the prices being asked," Mr Brown said.
He said there were less houses on the market right now due to the coronavirus.
However, he said the buyers in the market were keen to obtain a property.
"There are buyers who are serious. The rentals have been strong too," he said.
Mr Brown said his agency's video presentations of houses for sale were being watched and were leading to sales.
"Since we've been doing the Armchair Opens we have sold over 10 properties. It has been going for only three to four weeks.
"On the Facebook videos we're getting up to 25 people looking at them. It is working," he said.
