Justin and Pip Jarrett's See Saw Wines sent about 350 cases of pinot noir, shiraz and chardonnay to an American distributor last week.
Mr Jarrett said they were delighted to pull off the deal considering the constraints caused by the pandemic.
We are really hoping this is a good start.

"This is definitely a breakthrough for the American market," he said.
"The last time we exported to the American market was 2002.
Mr Jarrett said the deal had taken months to pull together and then they got hit with the pandemic.
"It's taken us nearly 14 months to get it there," he said.
"It was meant to leave four weeks ago. It got delayed when Australia went into lockdown."
However, he said the distributor contacted them to say the deal was still on and the wine was shipped last week.
"We were pretty chuffed," he said.
Mr Jarrett said they hoped it would lead to other exports.
"We are really hoping this is a good start," he said.
Mr Jarrett said See Saw's organic wines would be seen as a "niche product" in the US and would not compete with cheaper, mass-produced drops.
He said the winery had been hit hard on the domestic scene by coronavirus restrictions.
Mr Jarrett said the closure of hotels and other outlets had seen business fall.
"We are down 60 per cent for March and we expect to be down more in April," he said.
Coronavirus restrictions have forced wineries to stop tastings at cellar doors with many concentrating on take away and delivery services.
