Inspector David Harvey said the victim left the Carcoar Road home between 6am and 11.30am on Saturday while they went to Orange.
Inspector Harvey said when the victim returned home they found the front door had been forced open and two rooms had been rummaged through.
However, he said it didn't appear that anything had been stolen.
Police attended the property and conducted a fingerprint assessment and are continuing to investigate the break and enter.
Anyone with information should phone Orange police on 6363 6399 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
Inspector Harvey said Orange police are also currently doing a lot of business inspections.
He said it involved high-visibility policing around shopping centres and other public and commercial spaces in relation to COVID-19 restrictions.
Across NSW, police have charged 10 people under the Public Health Act and issued 50 COVID-19 related penalty infringement notices since Thursday afternoon, none were in Orange.
