Police were called to the location on the distributor at about 12.20am on the entry to Orange from Bathurst, and the road is still shut as of 9.30am.
A detour was put in place directing all traffic onto the Northern Distributor Road.
Central West Police District inspector Dave Harvey said the truck had left the road "for an unknown reason" and had tried to steer back onto the road, resulting in the truck overturning onto a grass mound.
No other vehicles are believed to be involved, and the driver wasn't injured in the incident.
The truck contained a load of floorboards and floorboarding materials.
The road, near Chinaman's Bend, has been closed since 1am, with emergency services, RMS and a heavy crane responding.
