At least six retail stores in the Orange CBD have shut down and many more businesses are seeking rent cuts of 50 per cent to keep trading due to the coronavirus.

Real estate agents have revealed the six shops to close down include "three ladies dress shops and one hairdresser".
One agent said a major clothing chain in Summer Street shut its doors and walked away leaving stock in place until the pandemic ends.

Blowes Real Estate principal Gary Blowes said many people were affected by the situation.
"We've had six close and nine apply for a 50 per cent rent reduction which we are granting," he said.
Mr Blowes said it was likely the rent relief would apply for three months before it would be reviewed and payment plans worked out.
"Some landlords are ringing beforehand and saying grant it [rent relief] before they ask. Most tenants are handling it well," he said.
Chris Gryllis Real Estate principal Chris Gryllis said they had received many requests from businesses.

"They vary from not paying rent at all to some kind of rent reduction until things get better," he said.
Mr Gryllis said the requests for rental help were being granted but it was a difficult time for the tenants and landlords.
"I have very understanding landlords," he said.

Mr Gryllis said the businesses seeking relief included restaurants, temporary employment agencies and training centres.
"Some small businesses, I don't believe they will be able to survive," he said.
