Bradley Boney, 31, of Brewarrina, was driving a black Holden Commodore sedan on Ash Street, Orange, at 1.25am on September 4, 2019.
Police stopped him for random testing near the intersection with Scott Street, and although Boney passed the breath test he tested positive to the illicit drugs.
He was arrested and taken to Orange Police Station where he tested positive to methamphetamine and cannabis on analysis.
When questioned by police about his drug use he said, "I smoked some yandi just before I got in the car."
He also told police he had "half a stick" and took methamphetamine earlier in the evening before it got dark.
Boney was fined $220 and was disqualified from driving for three months.
