In addition to the cash, which was suspected to be the proceeds of crime, Shane McMillan, 37, of Bletchington Street, was found with cannabis, methamphetamine and a 35 centimetre long hunting knife.
Police found McMillan crouching behind a shed in Elsie Street at 8.10pm, he jumped over a side fence but stopped after running about 100 metres.
McMillan represented himself in court and said he was selling drugs for the money and "just to survive".
"I just want to do my time and get out of there before my mum passes away, she's pretty sick at the moment," he said.
Magistrate David Day gave him two concurrent 13-month jail sentences with six-month non-parole periods for supplying methamphetamine and dealing with the proceeds of crime.
McMillan was also given two three-month jail sentences for possession of 6.8 grams of cannabis, 6.6 grams of methamphetamine and was convicted for possession of the knife.
McMillan will remain in custody until at least October 29, 2020, after Mr Day gave him two 12-month jail sentences with six-month non-parole periods for contravening an AVO and intimidating a woman.
According to police he went to the woman's house on November 11, 2019, and said "once I've got my hands on you you're gone," and "I'm going to bash you to death, I'm going to get people to bash you".
