The contest, which involves mechanics from across the country coming together to complete mechanical challenges - such as replacing brake discs and tyres under timed conditions, an hour-long task which he had to do in 20 minutes at last year's event.
He qualified for the finals - which take place on November 21 in Sydney - after four months worth of questions in online surveys sent out by Hino, a truck manufacturer which Mr Barbar services at West Orange Motors.

The Freightliner competition was held only last month, with the win securing his place on a trip to America in 2020 to visit factories the trucks roll off, and a similar experience awaits him in Japan should he claim the top prize.
"It's been a great learning exercise, I don't often get to work on Hinos. They've brought out two models of trucks and two new engines and I haven't seen them at all," he said.
"I like trucks, I like doing this sort of stuff."
