P and C fundraising committee member Zowie Medbury was one of the organisers for the event and said it was decided to have a colour run instead of traditional fundraisers like walkathons.
"We thought we would change it up," Mrs Medbury said.
Mrs Medbury said this year the P and C was also encouraging students to raise money through online platforms but they could still do traditional door knocking if they wanted to.
Because the fundraising was being done online Mrs Medbury said she hoped the students would raise more money than usual and so far people from the UK and the USA have also donated.
Families started raising money at the start of term and they can continue to get donations until next Friday.
Once the total figure is known the P and C and the school will determined what sport, music or technology items to purchase for the school.
Mrs Medbury said there were separate tracks set up for the junior and senior students in the colour run and afterwards the students were given Middleton's ice blocks due to a donation.
