Orange City Council community environmental engagement officer Bill Josh said volunteers were invited to the Waratah Sports Club Wetlands area on Sunday November 3.
Mr Josh said they would be planting grasses and water grasses and cleaning up.
"We're building a habitat for the local bird life," he said.
Mr Josh said people should meet in the club carpark at 10am.
The event is part of the Orange Sustainable Living Weekends which kicked off last Sunday with an expo featuring guest speaker ABC TV show host Craig Reucassel.
Two weeks later a general maintenance day will be held at Lake Canobolas where volunteers will help clean up the land care areas.
He said people should meet at the lake cafe at 10am on Sunday November 17.
One week later there will be a guided wildflower walk at Gosling Creek Reserve with people to meet in the car park at 10am.
"It's a chance to see what we've got. People go to WA to see wildflowers. They don't know what we've got in our own backyard," he said.
A barbecue will follow each event. Call 0407 256 791 for more information.
