They were in talented company too, as Sydney Thunder and Cricket NSW's Arjun Nair and Charlie Stobo, with the former returning to Orange for the first time since he lined up for a visiting Hawksbury side in 2014 after previously taking part in the Western NSW Junior Cricket Carnival a year earlier.

"I've been here a long time ago ... I remember being leading run-scorer, I think I batted really well in that carnival," he said.

"I remember batting well in that tournament. I've got good memories of those games."

While a quick trawl through the archives didn't bring up his full results, Nair definitely played in Orange in 2011, scoring 28 out of his ACT side's 55 before his side dismissed Parramatta for 53.

He said it was "good to see" so many students turning out to give the sport a go, with plenty of Thunder fans coming up for autographs and selfies.

"The idea is obviously to get more kids become Thunder fans and get them playing the game as well," he said.

Stobo agreed and said it was "about having fun and getting involved".

"We've had a really good response and these kids and they've been really easy to teach," he said.

The quick bowler also said the warmth had helped, with perfect weather bringing more students out and allowing for more games.

"They've loved it," he said.
