Stacey Lee Reid, 31, of Amaroo Crescent, was being treated for drug psychosis when she assaulted the nurse as the nurse was walking away leaving her with neck pain as a result of Reid pulling her hair.
The assault took place after the nurse told Reid to go to her room at 4.20am on October 11, 2018, after she repeatedly flooded a bathroom by placing towels over a drain.
Since the offence, Reid has been undergoing treatment for mental health and substance abuse and solicitor Lucien Gration said her sentence was disproportionate with the level of offending.
"She's worked hard to address substance misuse," Mr Gration said.
Acting Judge Geoffrey Graham upheld the appeal.
Instead of the two-year intensive correction order given to her in Orange Local Court, Acting Judge Graham gave her an 18-month community correction order with conditions she undertake further rehabilitation and treatment.
