The exhibition, Between Nature and Sin features a decade of past work, and the premiere of Cowboy Country, Griggs' first feature film.
Griggs said the talk will focus on the works featured in the show and the process of writing and directing the film.
"And my 10-years living in Manilla in the Philippines," he said.
"I like people to ask questions so I can keep the talk rolling in a way that it becomes a dialogue."
David Griggs' work, predominantly portraiture, focuses on the human condition; drawing on political imagery, underground media, local histories and personal experience.
Famous for his bold approach, Griggs exposes the raw underbelly of society.
During his time in the Philippines, Griggs created a body of work that reveals the social hierarchies and underground culture of his adopted home.
Orange City Council spokesperson Stephen Nugent encouraging everyone to attend the opening night.
"This week is local government week and it's well timed we get to open a new exhibition of such calibre at the gallery," Cr Nugent said.
"It showcases how local governments are not just about roads, rates and rubbish.
"We're proud to be able to provide the region's residents with these fantastic cultural opportunities."
Between Nature and Sin will open in conjunction with Raw Language: Esotericism in Outsider Art, running August 3 to September 8 and Curtain Call: Andrew Antoniou August 3 to September 22.
Griggs talk will kick off at 5:30pm, prior to the opening, which begins at 6pm.
The exhibition will run until September 29.
