A car has been burned out in Orange in the early hours of Saturday morning after being stolen just a few hours beforehand.

The vehicle, a Nissan Navara, was set alight just before 4.50am on Saturday in Cootes Park, just off Sir Neville Howse Place.

Emergency services, including firefighters, responded and doused the flames shortly after.
The car is believed to have been stolen from Marsden Place on Friday night or Saturday before being set alight less than 200 metres away in Cootes Park.

Central West Police District Sergeant Luke Cole said police believed the vehicle to be stolen.
Cootes Park has become a hotbed for burned-out cars, with at least 10 burned out in the area over the past 18 months.
The Navara the first car to be burned out in Orange for several weeks, after a spate of the attacks over summer led to some 50 cars being burned in the first six months of 2019.
It's also the first car burned since two men were charged this week following alleged involvement in car fires earlier in the year.
