Orange's rugby league community has thrown its support behind former Bloomfield Tigers and Orange CYMS junior Jack Wighton ahead of the 26-year-old's State of Origin debut on Wednesday night.
Wighton has been named on the bench for game one at Suncorp Stadium and when he makes his first on-field appearance he'll do so riding a massive wave of support from his home town.
Current Bloomfield Tigers president Jason Greenhalgh says Wighton's progression from Orange to the Raiders, then NSW Country and eventually the Origin arena was a great motivation for the city's next generation of rugby league players.
"It's certainly a great achievement for them to see," Greenhalgh said.
"Its going to give kids from Orange some perspective to see someone form their own town make it to the pinnacle of the game."
Greenhalgh said the Tigers players had been particularly excited about State of Origin this year with the club again set to take a bus load of parents and kids to the third game at ANZ Stadium on July 10.
But with Wighton breaking into Brad Fittler's Blues fold that excitement level has now become palpable.
"They are, they're excited and taking great interest in the game," Greenhalgh said.
"We're hoping he's still there for the third one as well."
Wighton shared his junior playing days with Bloomfield and CYMS and across town the green and golds are eagerly anticipating the Orange junior league alumnus' origin debut.

"He's come along way," Orange CYMS Junior Rugby League president Chris Collins added.
"I think it'll be a hard game and the forwards will pepper him but as a utility he's tough enough, he'll handle it for sure."
Greenhalgh agreed.
He believes Wighton's imposing frame - he's 93 kilograms and 189 centimetres tall - will ensure he handles any challenge thrown his way by the Queenslanders.
I think he's built for it.

"I think he's built for it. He's a tough footballer and thrives on the physicality," Greenhalgh said.
"I think it'll be tighter than people thought. Queensland's strong in the halves and we're probably a little untried there, with the not-great form of Cleary and Walker on debut."
Wighton has turned to one of NSW's best super subs in the lead-up to Wednesday's game, Craig Wing preparing an off-the-bench how-to guide for the Raiders star.
Origin one will be Wighton's first game off the bench in his career and Wing, who played all 12 of his Origin games from the pine, says conserving energy is the key.
"It was my job to lift the tempo, bring something different and add to what the starting 13 players had been doing," Wing told NRL.com.
"Being able to make that impact comes down to preparation.
"For Jack Wighton in particular, he's been picked as the utility ... he should be learning as much as he can about as many positions as he can while he's there."
Kick-off to State of Origin one is at 8.10pm on Wednesday night.
