The 20-year-old man spent 25 days in custody on remand and was subsequently given strict bail that was likened to home detention before being given custodial sentences for the two separate sets of matters.
According to police, the 20-year-old man and his partner, who has since had the child, were arguing on June 3, 2018 when the woman locked herself in a bathroom and the man forced his way in, breaking the door-jam and lock.
He then spat on the woman and slapped the top of her head at least three times while she was in the shower.
I'll stab you in the stomach, killing you and the baby, and then I'll kill myself.
The man was quoted as saying "I'll stab you in the stomach, killing you and the baby, and then I'll kill myself".
Police said he also grabbed her by the hair and slapped or hit her three more times.
For assaulting and intimidating the woman, the man was given two seven-month Intensive Correction Orders, with 50 hours of community service.
For breaking the door lock and jam he was placed on a two-year conditional release order.
In the other matter, solicitor Neil Jones said there had been a dispute between his client and his housemate over money, which led his client to push his way into a residence while armed with a table leg on May 24, 2018, for which he was given a seven-month ICO with 50 hours of community service.
He was also given a 12-month community correction order for assaulting his former housemate with the table leg, and a six-month community correction order for damaging the tower and television.
For stealing a laptop and a Nintendo DS he was convicted and given a two-year conditional release order.
Solicitor Neil Jones said his client took the law into his own hands in the offences against his former housemate, and had been addicted to methamphetamine during both offences, but had since undertaken rehabilitation and was honest about his substance use.
"The offences are plainly serious, your Honour," Mr Jones said.
The man was not named for the protection of the victim, and if he contravenes the ICOs, which require rehabilitation and for him to abstain from drugs, he could go into to full-time custody.
