Shortly before 10pm on police attended the scene of the crash on the Mitchell Highway at Wongarbon, about 20 kilometres south-east of Dubbo.
Police believe a Toyota HiLux utility being driven by a 35-year-old man, and with a 29-year-old passenger, lost control and rolled a number of times, before coming to rest.
A second vehicle, a Toyota Landcruiser utility driven by a 19-year-old man, hit the stationary vehicle.

Both men inside the first car died at the scene, while the driver of the second vehicle was uninjured.
The 19-year-old man was conveyed to hospital for mandatory drug and urine tests.
Officers from Orana Mid-Western Police District attended and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
The Mitchell Highway was closed in both directions between Dubbo and Geurie, but has since reopened.
A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
