Clean Up Australia Day Orange organiser Roger Smith said 69 people were at Moulder Park, Clifton Grove, the Spring Street child care centre and Rotary Park.
Orange High School students Caprice Tesoriero and Claudia Smith found a shopping trolley and a bicycle as part of the school's clean-up efforts at Moulder Park.
Mr Smith said they were among the largest items recovered.
"Old tyres and shopping trolleys are usually found every year," he said.
However, this year Mr Smith said there was a noticeable drop in the number of bottles and cans found.
He said that could probably be attributed to the introduction of the Return and Earn machines in Orange.
