Nathan Daniel Griffiths, 37, of Margaret Street, was stopped by police at 12.30am on January 24 after police saw him leave the car park of an Anson Street hotel and swerve several times.
When approached by police he said he was over the drink-driving limit and he was arrested after failing a breath test and on analysis returned a mid-range reading of 0.097.
Solicitor Mick Madden said Griffiths worked as a bar tender and had previously driven customers home to prevent them drink driving.
Magistrate David Day took into account the police driving suspension he was given so disqualified his driver's licence for three months and placed him on a 12-month conditional release order.
