While diamonds, a decadent dinner or a designer dress might be desirable – a simple bouquet of flowers still goes a long way to say ‘sorry’, ‘congratulations’ or ... ‘I love you’.
And with Valentine’s Day creeping up, Botanica Flora’s Libby Reimers said generally girls just like getting flowers.
“It’s something you wouldn’t buy for yourself – that’s what makes receiving them so special,” she said.
While indoor plants have reached a new peak in popularity on Pinterest and Google searches, Mrs Reimers said they make a risky gift for the person you profess to love – especially if they’re green thumb is a little off colour.
“It can be stressful,” she said. “Give them something they can’t kill.”
Mrs Reimers said deep ruby, pink and majenta are trend colours in flower fashion right now and buyers can’t go wrong with roses.
