Workers at the construction site on Forest Road where a six-storey private medical centre is being built have donated $518.65 to RMH.
The project manager for the Zauner Constructions site, Nick Windsor, who is from Orange and has had a lengthy association with RMH said workers were keen to show their support for the care, support and accommodation RMH provides.
“The money raised is the proceeds from regular barbecues we hold on site every two weeks and it’s great to think we can help out in any way,” Mr Windsor said.
And it’s not just the workers who have helped out.
He said contractors on the site also contributed by donating the produce for the barbecues.
“Everyone on site was really keen to use their barbecues for fundraising and in 2019 we will look to supporting another health-based charity in Orange,” he said.
Mr Windsor has a unique link to RMH as he was the first on-site project manager during its construction in 2013.
And he has also been a member of the RMH fund-raising ball committee for several years.
Mr Windsor also has a family association with RMH as his parents Ray and Georgie are regular volunteers at the house.
They were among the first volunteers to sign up when the house opened.
Between them they have clocked up more than 1400 hours as volunteers at RMH.
They work on various shifts and had a key role to play there over Christmas.
They volunteered on Christmas Eve to help prepare Christmas lunch for families. And they were back of Boxing Day to volunteer.
RMH executive officer Rebecca Walsh said she was pleased to receive the donation.
She said donations like this one played an important role in overall fundraising for RMH.
Work on the construction site started last August and the basic structure is set to be finished next month.
Garry Zauner, CEO of the construction company Zauner Group, said they were on target to open the Bloomfield Medical Centre in late October.
