Orange City quick Harry McGregor’s already had plenty of success in the first half of the 2018-19 summer, and he’s hoping that continues at the Queenstown Schools Cricket Carnival next week, in New Zealand.

McGregor, who’s earned his spot in the Warriors’ Orange District Cricket Association top grade side this season and starred for Western Zone’s Bradman Cup side, will spearhead Orange’s under 16s’ attack in New Zealand, the side flies out for the carnival on Saturday.
He’s understandably pumped for the trip too, in which he’ll be joined by Orange City teammate Lachlan Coyte.

“I’m really keen to get over there, see what the decks are like and what the standard’s like too,” the quietly-spoken McGregor said.
“The kiwi guys have come here and played (in the Western NSW Junior Carnivals) and we beat them we I played against them, but we don’t really know much about them, we’ll just have to wait and see.”
McGregor says he’s looking to take the experience he’s gained so far this summer into the tour, and maintain his form too because he’s bowling superbly, albeit without luck at times – for Orange City he’s taken seven wickets at 29 and for Western he snared four scalps.
That’s not taking into account his exploits with Orange in Mitchell Cricket Council’s under-16 competition either, or his efforts with the Black Caps’ representative side.
“I’ve been keeping it consistent lately which is a good bonus,” McGregor said.
“For me it’s just about keeping it tight and trying to pick up a few wickets for the team, because we’re just trying to win as many games as we can.
“It’s been good having guys like [Jackson Coote and Ed Morrish] helping me out. It’ll be good experience, I’ll try and bring that back to Orange City as well.”
The draw for the carnival is yet to be released, with Stu Middleton and Dave Cumming coaching the Orange outfit.
