Speeds of up to 107 km/h in a 50 km/h zone have been recorded by Blayney Shire Council monitoring on Victoria Street.
Vince Murphy, who lives in Millthorpe, said motorists were regularly ignoring the speed limits.
“You might get the odd one doing the speed limit and then you get them tearing through town,” he said.
“The other day I saw a black Commodore with P-plates. He was doing 90-100 km/h.”
He said he feared pedestrians would be hit.
It is a disaster that hasn’t happened yet.

“There was a young girl [10-12 years old] last Saturday. She got off her bike and wheeled it across the road. All of a sudden I heard a squeal of brakes. The car drove off and bipped his horn at her. The young girl was in the right, this car was speeding,” he said.
Mr Murphy said more police patrols were needed in the village.
And he said locals were also at fault by not coming to a complete stop at stop signs.
Millthorpe Village Committee president Sam Yeates said they had been concerned about speeding for several years.
Mr Yeates said they wanted to see the speed limit on some roads cut to 40 km/h, the 50 km/h zone on Vittoria Road/Victoria Street be extended further east and action to cut speeding on Forest Reefs Road including improvements at the railway underpass.
“It is a disaster that hasn’t happened yet. People are approaching it too fast and are going on the wrong side of the road,” he said.
Council Traffic Committee chair Cr Bruce Reynolds said council monitoring of speeding on Victoria Street found 50 per cent of motorists were speeding, with 15 per cent faster than 59 km/h.
He said 15 per cent of motorists had been recorded above 95 km/h in the 80 km/h zone on Forest Reefs Road.

Cr Reynolds said council had upgraded a pedestrian crossing to improve safety, had taken concerns to Roads and Maritime Services and asked police for more patrols.
“Council is aware of it, we are doing some further monitoring,” he said.
