A severe weather thunderstorm warning has been put in place for Thursday afternoon by the Bureau of Meteorology for much of the Central West, including Orange, Bathurst, Dubbo, Cowra and Mudgee.
The airport recorded 7.6 millimetres in just over an hour from 5pm Wednesday according to weatherzone.com.au, while people in town reported more rainfall in rain gauges across Orange.
It brings the total rainfall for the month to 48.4 millimetres, still below the average 80.9 millimetres for December.
One larger tree branch fell near the corner of McLachlan Street and Bathurst Road during the storm, but the SES reported no call-outs as a result of the storm.
The storm led to the issuing of wild weather warnings on Wednesday afternoon – with strong winds expected – but the highest reported gust was only 26 kilometres per hour.
LAST WEEK’S STORMS:
It’s the last decent rainfall expected before Christmas, with less than five millimetres predicted on Friday and Saturday, despite being mostly sunny, with little rain cover expected before Christmas.
Christmas day itself will be 28 degrees and sunny.
