The Central West Police District participated in the Western Region’s Operation Pariac, targeting venues’ compliance with licensing regulations and detecting alcohol-related crime and anti-social behaviour.
A 26-year-old man was arrested after assaulting a woman at the Royal Hotel on Saturday evening, then on Sunday night, a 38-year-old man was punched in the face by a man he did not know at Washington and Co in an unprovoked attack.
Inspector Linda Bradbury said the weekend was comparable to the same time last year.
“There were more people at licensed premises now the weather has warmed up and there were a few events this weekend, particularly with the AFL grand final and the rugby league grand final,” she said.
“That’s three days of operations and there were two assaults at two licensed premises, so when you look at the figures, it isn’t overly concerning.”
