The Department of Industry has approved a number of conditions for the hotel’s liquor licence under the Liquor Act from August 31.
They include a requirement for the licensee or staff to notify police immediately if a violent incident has occurred, preserve the affected area until they arrive and keep a register of incidents.
On Fridays, Saturdays and days before a public holiday, two marshals monitoring responsible service of alcohol will be required, in addition to two licensed security personnel after 10.30pm.
More security personnel will be required if patron numbers exceed 200.
The hotel was taken off the state government’s violent venues list in November after the number of incidents fell.
The venue struck a local liquor agreement with police and Central West Police District crime manager Bruce Grassick said there had been progress.
“But not to the extent we were satisfied,” he said.
“Those conditions are twofold – we’re trying to prevent alcohol-related crime and allow patrons to experience a night out without any issues.”
Detective Inspector Grassick said violence and RSA had been problems in the past.
As of September, the hotel will be required to ensure CCTV footage covers all entries and exits, footpaths and public areas inside, apart from toilets.
“They have [CCTV already], but there are certain areas not covered by CCTV – the requirement effectively allows more comprehensive coverage,” Det Insp Grassick said.
The conditions will take the total for the hotel to 12 – by comparison, the Victoria Hotel, the Royal Hotel and the Hotel Canobolas share the second-highest number of licence conditions, each with five.
Breaches carry fines of up to $1100 on the spot and $11,000 in court.
The Fabar family was contacted for comment.
