More than 68,000 individual donations have been made to Australian-based fundraisers for Gaza on the crowd-funding site GoFundMe since October 2023.
Many of the fundraisers are collecting money to pay for emergency evacuation arrangements, accommodation and flights for Palestinians seeking to flee Gaza and join family members in Australia.
"I'm trying to save my parents from being killed in the ongoing destruction in Gaza and I urgently need your help to do so," fundraiser Mahmoud Medoukh said.
"My parents are all I have in this world. I have not seen them physically for the past 14 years. The thought of losing them will break me," he wrote.
"I wish I had the funds to get them out of this horrific situation. I have exhausted all my options, so I turn to you with an urgent appeal to support the evacuation of my parents to safer grounds."
Mr Medoukh has raised more than $15,000 of his $45,000 target.
He's not alone in his plight. Tasneem Hassan from Victoria's Roxburgh Park raised more than $3,000 to evacuate her husband from the warzone.
In Haymarket, NSW, Kate Ahmad has raised more than $50,000 to help Jaffer Murtaja and his family safely cross the Palestinian border to Egypt.
Yousef Sharaf from St Leonards NSW has set a fundraising target of $100,000 to relocate 60 family members. She has raised $10,000 from 98 unique donations.
Around the world more than $105 million has been donated to the cause since October 7, 2023 with tens of thousands of fundraisers set up across 181 countries.
The crowdfunding platform has established an information hub helping individuals fundraise to evacuate civilians from Gaza.
