Mrs Litchfield graduated in 1986, the year of the school’s 100 year celebrations, and returned in 1994 as a teacher.
Since her school days, the student population has more than doubled and the grounds are almost unrecognisable after extensive building work.
“This is to celebrate what we’ve achieved, to reflect on the history of the school and to acknowledge past and present students,” she said.
Mrs Litchfield’s four children also attend Kinross Wolaroi School.
Her grandfather Bill Dean was on the school council and was honoured with the naming of Dean House, while her mother Elizabeth Carpenter also served on the school council for about 30 years.
Mrs Litchfield said she enjoyed watching students being challenged.
“I love it. I love that it’s a country school with a diverse country population. I love that everything is compulsory. They have to do sport, music, cadets. They have to do things they find tough and it builds a strong character,” she said.
Kinross Wolaroi School’s 125 year celebrations started last night with a concert attended by more than 700 people.
An ex-student drinks function will be held tonight, with some of those attending having left school in the 1940s.
A gala ball will be held on Saturday night and more than 700 people are expected to attend a family picnic at the PLC site on Sunday.
