Cudal Country Womens Association’s Merle Parrish has put herself to the test on the hit reality television show.
The prize-winning cake maker was tight-lipped on what happened on the show but she did mention she would feature in one of this week’s episodes.
“All I can say is we cook cake and some batches of cupcakes,” she said.
Mrs Parrish was nominated to appear on the show by Central West Group CWA president Gail Hayden.
“MasterChef came to us,” Mrs Parrish said.
“They first asked Gail if she wanted to do it but she suggested me.
“Personally, it is a tremendous honour to do something like this.”
The 78-year-old met the judges and the contestants, including Mrs Bracks.
“Meeting Kate was great, meeting the judges was great. It was great to meet them all.”
Mrs Parrish said it was a great thrill to enter the MasterChef kitchen.
“It was a fantastic experience seeing how the whole thing works.
“Walking into the room was breath taking. It was quite overwhelming at first.”
Mrs Parrish has been baking cakes for more than 70 years.
She has won “hundreds” of ribbons and prizes for her cooking including twice being awarded the most successful ribbon at the Sydney Royal Show.
“I love the competitiveness part. If I get beaten, so be it, if I win, it’s a thrill.
“If you compete, you have to be a good loser.”
