Mrs Coote, who owns J & J Brides and Formal with her husband John, was working in the bridal industry when Lady Diana Spencer married Prince Charles.
“For three or four years after that wedding brides wanted a similar gown and I am sure it will be the same this time round,” she said.
“I have no doubt the girls will start phoning or calling in to see when they might be able to get a similar gown, and I am sure by the next showing I have there will be a similar design available,” she said.
Mrs Coote certainly knows her way around wedding fabrics and designs, and has formed her own opinion of the type of gown Kate Middleton will choose.
“I think it will feature lace and be fitted to show off her figure, but not too figure hugging or slinkly.
“I imagine it will fall out in soft folds of lace at the bottom and she will have a three-quarter lace sleeve,” she said.
“I think she could also have the same lace around the edges of the veil.”
Mrs Coote said there would definitely be a train.
“But certainly nowhere near as long as Diana’s and I don’t think there will be any silk in the gown at all, like Diana had,” she said.
Mrs Coote remembers what Queen Elizabeth II wore to Charles and Diana’s wedding.
“I am predicting she will wear mauve because she wore turquoise last time,” she said.
Mrs Coote said Australian brides loved to follow trends and the royal wedding would be no exception.
“When the McLeods Daughters wedding episode was screened on television we had so many enquiries for the same gown,” she said.
“We sold quite a few of them - they were very popular.”
As for Prime Minister Julia Gillard, what should she wear?
“I think an outfit in soft gold would suit her colouring, with a nice brimmed hat worn slightly on the side, not a fascinator,” Mrs Coote said.
The designer of Kate Middleton’s wedding gown is sworn to secrecy, however, it is expected the gown will come with a sizeable price tag.
“If it has lace it could cost tens of thousands of dollars,” Mrs Coote said.
She says the average cost of a bridal gown from J & J Brides is $1700 and the average bride is a size 14.
Kate Middleton is a size 6.
