Palliative care nurses and volunteers will stage information sessions throughout the Central West this week helping people find appropriate support for people diagnosed with a terminal illness.
They will also provide information for people caring for someone with a terminal illness.
“When no-one wants to talk about dying, we do, and we can help,” said clinical nurse consultant for palliative care [Central West] James Daley.
“When we think about the end of life, we need to think about what kinds of treatments we want, who we would like to care for us, and where we would like to be when we die,” he said.
“Importantly, we have to tell the people around us about our wishes.
“Talking about dying is not something that comes naturally to Australians yet each year half a million Australians experience the impact of terminal illness.”
