Located close to Bloomfield Hospital, The Springs was a popular gathering place for both indigenous and non-indigenous people in the 1930s and 1940s.
According to Fleur Magick who is coordinating the event as part of the community Wiradjuri language project, the shared history site is of great historical significance to the Orange region.
“We’d like anyone who has an association with the site and even land owners who now live adjacent to the area, to come to the gathering,” said Ms Magick.
“Many people were born on the site or lived here so we want to be able to hear their stories and keep that knowledge for future generations.
“Where participants give their permission we will record stories on the day either by writing notes, sound recording or video recording depending on the preference of the contributor.”
According to Ms Magick visitors from around the region including Wellington and Cowra will travel to the reunion.
All of the stories collected on the day will be published in a small booklet about Aboriginal history, culture and language which will be used as a resource for schools and the wider community.
