SINCE the last fight night held in Orange in July the Sydney gyms have been bragging that the country boxers were no match for the city slickers.
So Orange's MOBSPORT (Mind Over Body) head trainer Jake Kenney has invited the city boxers back for a 15-bout program tomorrow night.
"We have Bankstown PCYC coming, one from Prize Fighter Academy (Jeff Fenech's club), Narooma PCYC, Central Coast, Kandos Boxing Club, Bathurst will be here again and a few guys will come from Cowra PCYC," Kenney said.
"It will be a big show, bigger than the previous one. The last one was very widely received and there's still a buzz about town."
MOBSPORT will have four boxers this time, heavyweight Lewis Carberry, cadet welterweight Mitch Latham, light heavyweight Karl Thompson and welterweight Adam Piggott.
"Lewis is fighting a guy from Bankstown PCYC," Kenney said.
"We haven't seen him, no-one's seen him. This guy's a novice, he's never had a fight before. Lewis has come down a division. He's stepped into the heavyweight division, he's not in super-heavies any more. He's training hard and lost 10kg since the last fight."
The youngest MOBSPORT member Latham, who was the crowd favourite in July, is said to be keen to get back in the ring but Karl Thompson is set to produce the bout of the night.
"Mitch is looking savage," Kenney said.
"Karl is the danger. They've all been doing a lot of running at training. Karl is the best prepared we've ever had him. He's fit and extremely powerful. He'll be good to watch.''
One of the big bouts will be the super heavyweight clash between Tongan Sao Funaki and Bathurst's Peter Champion.
A special no-decision bout will be fought out between Lee Phelps, who was fighter of the tournament in July, and Brett Bettles, who was a Junior Australian Title contender.
"No-one wanted to fight him (Phelps) so we've got him doing a no-decision contest which means it's like a heavy duty spar," Kenney explained.
The night will also include an auction where people will be able to bid for a Kostya Tszyu glove, a Danny Green poster and a Jeff Fenech glove.
The 15-bout program will be held at Orange Ex Services Club from 7:30pm and tickets cost $20 with the lucky door prize of a 250 Litre fridge donated by Electrolux.
