'Blinky Bill' the koala walked into the emergency department at Hamilton Base Hospital in south-western Victoria at 3:30am on Monday, April 20, 2015.
Western District Health Service posted a CCTV footage of the moment the curious marsupial casually strolled through the automatic doors, took a look around the waiting room and strolled back out.
The video has since amassed 415,000 views on Facebook.
"You never know who's going to stroll through the doors at the Hamilton Base Hospital. Our very own Blinky Bill pays a visit to the ED waiting room," Western District Health captioned the post.
But Blinky Bill isn't the only wild animal to visit Hamilton Hospital's emergency department as a wallaby did the same thing on Australia Day earlier this year.
Wally the wallaby
'Wally' the wallaby also made a visit to the emergency department of Hamilton Base Hospital on Tuesday, January 26, 2021.
CCTV footage showed the moment the wallaby hopped across the carpark and through the sliding doors into the emergency department.
A stunned nurse pulled out her mobile phone to begin recording the bizarre encounter as a member of the public looked through the window outside.
The marsupial had a sniff around the waiting room before it hopped out through the sliding doors and back into the wild.
WDHS Chief Executive Rohan Fitzgerald said it was entertaining that the wallaby decided to check in on Australia Day.
"It's wonderful to have such a close encounter with what is generally a very shy creature," Dr Fitzgerald said.
"We have had an incredible year in the context of the pandemic and it's nice to have some light-hearted moments to reflect on.
"We couldn't have anticipated the response we had from the koala video last time, within the first few hours of posting it on Facebook, it went viral and we were inundated with requests for the footage from across the globe."
