SECOND GRADE
Dudley Shepherd was the man of the moment for the Kinross first XI as they took down defending premiers Orange City in a low-scoring ODCA second grade affair.
City were sent into bat and managed only 96 before being bowled out in the 33rd over. Jamie Stedman top scored with 24 off 30 balls, while Shepherd 9 (3-18) and Arnie Tancred (4-15) did the damage with the ball.
Giving chase, Shepherd banged a quick-fire 14, but it was the calm mindset of Walter Prowse (21 not out off 51), which saw the students get the three-wicket win.
In the other games, Centrals defeated Spring Hill by three wickets as they chased down the 103 target. Gary Cole (32) and Aaron Chaseling (19) did the damage for the red and black.
Gladstone did a number of Kinross second XI, winning by 53 runs. Best on ground for the students were Rohan Wilson (38 not out and 2-4) and Harrison Sharpe (3-26).
Lastly, CYMS fell to Cavaliers by 60 runs, despite the efforts of Harry West (4-8) and Will Rodwell (28).
THIRD GRADE
Cavaliers and Centrals Black played out a nail biter over the weekend on the ODCA third grade competition.
Cavs looked on top with two early wickets, but Damien Caughlan had other ideas. The opener blasted 73 off 61 balls in an innings which saw him smash five fours and five sixes before they were bowled out for 143.
Balaji Chakaravarthy was the best of the Cavs bowlers with 6-36. The match came down to the final over, with Ben Sandford bowling out Tim Blowes to give Centrals Black the three run win.
The other match saw Orange City defeat CYMS by 27 runs. City's best performers were Matthew Elliott (25 not out) and Sam Wasil (5-22), while CYMS' Justin McKenzie finished the day with 3-25 and 13 retired.
CENTENARY CUP
A last-wicket stand between Stephen Wotton (17 not out) and Daniel Miller (12 not out) guided CYMS to a come from behind win against Cavaliers in the ODCA Centenary Cup.
Set 89 to win, CYMS got off to a great start thanks to Samuel Giumelli (38) and Harry Miller (10) who put on 51 for the opening stand, but a string of five ducks in a row saw them struggling. But Daniel Miller and Wotton put on 30 for the final wicket to grab the win in the 26th over.
The other match saw Orange City easily beat Kinross by six wickets.
Liam McKenzie (23) was the best with the bat for the students, but thanks to Caleb Frecklington's 25, City were able to get over the line in the 16th over.
