The operation was conducted around Orange, Bathurst and nearby towns and villages.
Central West Police District Chief Inspector Peter Atkins said out of the 680 breath tests, there were five drink-driving offences, eight random drug testing offences, three disqualified drivers and two people were found to be in possession of prohibited drugs.
"That was a high-visibility highway patrol operation," Chief Inspector Atkins said.
He said the blitz involved Operation Trance, which was run by the visiting highway patrol, and Operation Macquarie Blitz from the Macquarie Highway Patrol that operates in the Central West.
"It was a busy weekend, the traffic operation will be ongoing throughout December," Chief Inspector Atkins said.
