Group 10 representative backrower Greg Alderson has stepped up to captain-coach Workies in 2022, jumping into the top job after Lithgow suffered one of its toughest years in history last winter.
The club was forced to essentially forfeit the bulk of its games throughout July and August following the Greater Sydney COVID-19 lockdown in late June.
But the club is clearly desperate to turn it around next season, and the addition of Lomano Lufe is indicative of the club's intent.
Lufe is a talented centre with plenty of Sydney Shield and Ron Massey Cup experience with Blacktown.
Ben Lane will act as Alderson's assistant for the premier league side, too, which given the success Lane enjoyed with the club's under 18s side in 2021 is another smart appointment.
Alderson said he could sense the tide turning at the foot of the mountains but said getting players back to the club after no footy in 2020 and then a very short 2021 campaign would be his biggest task with the new season looming.
"I'm excited about it. I can't wait for the challenge," he said.
"Especially after the two years of interruption through COVID. Footy's taken sort of a big back backward step in the past few years with player retention and all that, so my priority this year is to try and boost the locals back up and try and get them back [and] involved in footy."
Alderson's appointment was the last official coaching announcement to complete the Group 10 coaching jig-saw ahead of 2022.
... my priority this year is to try and boost the locals back up and try and get them back [and] involved in footy.

Daniel Mortimer remains on deck at CYMS, while two-time NRL title winner Shane Rodney has joined Hawks for the 2022 season.
Jack Littlejohn (Mudgee), Jake Betts (Panthers), Zac Merritt (St Pat's) and the duo of Jack Nobes and Jack Buchanan (Cowra) will be coaching Group 10 clubs next season.
