Tap water from the Icely Road Water Treatment Plant and Suma Park Dam was judged to be among the best tasting in the state along with Sydney Water, Veolia Desalination Plant.

However, Richmond Valley Council took out the state award for its Casino Water Treatment Plant.
The water samples were judged on colour, clarity, odour and mouthfeel during blind taste tests.

The top drop from each state will battle it out for the national prize in Tasmania in early 2022.
The winner of the Ixom 2021 Best Tasting Tap Water in Australia competition will go on to represent Australia at the annual Berkeley Springs International Water Tasting Competition held in West Virginia, USA.
Water from the Rossarden Water Treatment Plant in the Tasmanian Northern Midlands won the Australain competition last year and went on to win Best Municipal Water for 2021 at the International Water Tasting event last year when the competition covered 4 countries and 19 US states.
Orange won the NSW section in 2015.
