A driver travelling on the Belubula Way on the road to Mandurama ended up in trouble when he attempted to drive though a swollen creek on Sunday at about 4pm.
State Emergency Service Orange unit commander Inspector Rob Stevens said the car stalled in fast-moving water about half a metre deep.
"The driver was still sitting in the car with his seatbelt on, on the phone to the 000 operator when two of our swift-water rescue operators from Orange got to the door," Insp Stevens said.
The man was assisted from the car by SES operators, who put a lifejacket on him and clipped him to themselves before wading him back to dry land.
