Benjamin Sean Luckett, 50, of Matthews Avenue, was driving in Orange on February 1 when he was stopped in Sir Neville Howse Place. His car was searched and police found 0.96 grams if cannabis leaf, knuckle dusters, an extendable baton, and a knife in his car.
Luckett was arrested and taken to Orange Police Station where he admitted to owning the knife and knuckle dusters, which he said he fabricated himself.
Magistrate David Day gave him a 12-month Intensive Correction Order requiring rehabilitation and treatment along with 30 hours of community service.
Mr Day also disqualified Luckett's driver's licence for three months for driving with a suspended licence.
Solicitor Neil Jones said the offence took place at a time when Luckett "came off the wagon and relapsed back into drug use".
"At the time of the offence he had been evicted form his home, he was going to live with his girlfriend in Orange," Mr Jones said.
