Colts won the toss and elected to bat and Henry Shoemark starred with a knock of 96, before he was caught out.

Shoemark would not be the only batsman to fall in the nervous nineties in the opening round, but his knock was by far the best in the match and the most significant score for Colts.

Russell Gardner (13) and Josh Toole (15) were the only other batsmen that managed double digit scores, with Centennials managing 167 all out.

Cavaliers' Kyle Buckley took four wickets, to have the best bowling figures for the match.

It took the hosts just 24 overs to run down the visiting Colts, losing one wicket along the way.

That one wicket came in just the second ball of the innings, when John Warrington was caught behind from a Dave Henderson ball.

But one wicket down and zero runs on the ball didn't worry Cavaliers, as Hugh Middleton (80) and Matt Corben (72) combined for 152 runs to cruise to victory.

Bathurst City's leadership team has helped secure an opening round win against CYMS at Morse Park.

Skipper Joey Coughlan, who opened the batting for the hosts, hit an equal team high of 71 runs, while vice captain Mark Day managed the same score as well and was still in at the end of Redbacks' 40 overs.

Redbacks lost seven wickets along the way as they managed 239 runs, after they won the toss and opted to bat first.

After CYMS' opening three bats weren't able to produce significant scores - Rory Darburger had nine, Tom West scored 11 and Thomas Belmonte ran for 17 - it was Michael Delaney (36) that started to get things going for the hosts before Mac Webster hit a match high of 85 runs.

Webster was ultimately ran out, CYMS' seventh and second last wicket to fall.

The green and golds would finish their 40 overs on 8-224, 15 runs short of catching Redbacks.

Reigning premiers Orange City got its title defence off with a win, downing Centennials at Bathurst's George Park 1.

Bulls had opening bat David Bundy out for four thanks to Kyle Aubin and number three Shaun Grenfell was gone for four after Zane Newham bowled him.

That left Orange City at 2-28 but Centennials wouldn't take advantage of the early wickets as number five Fletcher Rose hit an unbeaten 71 with the bat to help the visitors to 5-241 from their 40 overs.

Centennials opener Kurt Toole was in devastating form with the bat, as he fell two runs short of a century in the opening round match.

But Toole's total was the only significant score for the hosts, with fellow opener Kyle Aubin only managing 13 and three and four bats Tom Siede and Tyler Horton scoring 20.

Ed Morrish took 4-27 off eight overs for the best bowling figures of the match.

Centrals put up a brave fight but it was Rugby Union that ultimately claimed a five-wicket victory.

Centrals' batsmen produced mixed results, with Cameron Rasmussen producing the best knock of the match of 78 as he team scored 182 off 38.5 overs.

But ultimately his fellow batsmen weren't able to produce significant scores, with Bulldogs' Jeremy Thackray (4-23 off eight) and Percy Raveneau (3-32 off eight) getting the job done as they shared seven wickets between them.

While the Bulldogs only lost five wickets on their way to victory, they left it late to secure victory, with just eight balls to spare.

New recruit Lachlan Coad scored a team high of 41 runs, while Brad Glasson (40) - who ultimately was ran out - and opener Imran Qureshi (37) also scoring respectable totals.

The wickets were shared around at Centrals, with Rowan Dray, Ed Dodds, Adam Shepherd and Cameron Roberts all getting one each.

ORC's return to BOIDC was nothing short of a nightmare, as last year's St Pat's Old Boys cruised to an easy eight-wicket win at Morse Park 1.

Saints won the toss and sent the Tigers into bat and it was Nic Broes that starred with the ball.

The returning Saint, who played his club cricket in Canberra last year, ripped through the ORC batting order taking 5-5 off just eight overs and claiming five maidens in a scintillating spell.

Tigers' best showing with the bat was Hamish Siegert, who was playing his first game back at his junior club against the team he played for last season.

Siegert's knock of 28 made him just one of three Tigers' that scored double figures.

Saints took little time to claim victory, passing ORC's total in 19.5 overs.

While Broes starred with the ball, he managed just nine runs with the bat, as Connor Slattery hit a match high of 59 not out.
