Speaking on Thursday, Assistant Commissioner Brett Greentree of NSW Police said he was pleased with the rate at which cops are getting their first and second dose.
"Across the Western region, the majority of police have had their first dose of vaccination and Central West in particular are looking at around three quarters fully vaccinated," he said.
"That's very pleasing, but again we are ensuring that we're pushing our police, because it is mandated by the commissioner and that's ongoing at the moment. Pleasing thus far across the region."
Last week, NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian spoke about the reopening of businesses and how unvaccinated people would not be able to go into non-essential venues once the state has ended its lockdown.
During this, she said that checking to see if a person had been vaccinated or not would be "really easy to police" for businesses.
"(It's) much easier to police venues because all retail outlets and other places of hospitality require QR codes and that is why we have been speaking about the vaccine passport and the QR code system," she said.
"So if you do want to go an buy something which is regarded as a non-essential shop you will put up your QR code to the code and if there isn't a green light to say you've been vaccinated then you won't be welcome inside."
When aske whether police have or would be giving any training to businesses in the Western Region, Mr Greentree said that the situation was ever-changing.
"I know it's playing out at the moment and we'll be guided by the government on that with regards to how that will look for businesses," he said.
"I know it's challenging at this present time. What I will say from a policing and emergency management perspective, we will be doing our best to support the government as we move through the next phase.
"What that will look like we don't exactly know at the moment, but from a policing perspective we'll always be looking at the public health orders and ensuring that we are doing our best to educate, train and also enforce whatever orders are put in place."
