Western NSW Local Health District officials believe four in every five Orange residents aged 16 and above will have had at least one dose of a COVID vaccine by the weekend.
As of September 5, 72 per cent of those eligible to get vaccinated in Orange had received one dose, with 41.6 per cent having had both jabs.
There will be at least 500 doses per day allocated to the ADF pop-up vaccination hub which is running at the DPI building until Sunday. That means 3500 more people would be able to get their first dose this week.
Chief executive of Western NSW Local Health District Scott McLachlan praised the turnout in Orange so far.
"It's been a fantastic race across the region that Orange has lead for some time in getting vaccinated quickly," he said.
"Today is the day to look for a vaccination opportunity. We do want to get to 80 per cent of both doses, but I definitely think it's entirely possible this week for the whole of the community to get to 80 per cent first dose, but it does rely on everyone looking for those alternative options elsewhere."
Cabone (72.2 per cent first and 36.6 per cent second) and Blayney (70.8 per cent and 37 per cent) are well on their way to hitting that 80 per cent mark.
Mr McLachlan also emphasised that there is "plenty" of opportunity across primary care providers to get vaccinated, on top of the ADF clinic. But for those wanting to visit the pop-up hub, getting the AstraZeneca could see your wait decreased significantly.
"There's 500 doses of Pfizer and nearly endless amounts of AstraZeneca," he said of what's available at the pop-up hubs each day.
"There's very short waiting times to get into the AstraZeneca queue and you can fast track straight to the front of that queue, so don't hesitate.
"If you're looking for a vaccination today and you're able to get AstraZeneca then don't hesitate."
For those keeping an eye on vaccination rates, expect to see a dip at the start of next week. At the moment, the figures only reflect those 16 and older with the jab.
But from next Monday, it will include all people 12 years and older as that age range has now started receiving the vaccine at places like the Orange pop-up hub.
"We'll be measuring with a broader group with that. It is great to see so many people getting vaccinated," Mr McLachlan added.
