Jockey Anthony Cavallo knows Alison Smith's Panaura is an outside chance to salute in the $24,000 Todd Smith Appreciation Benchmark 66 Handicap at Wellington on Monday, but if the nine-year-old gelding fails to deliver, it won't be due to lack of heart.

The sprinter is set to run around in his 37th career race and will be boxed ideally in barrier two over the 1100 metres on what's listed as a heavy 10 surface.
It's been roughly 18 months between drinks for the gelding, but he last tasted victory over the kilometre at Dubbo, another race that was in the tough going.
"He's got a guts about him," Cavallo said.
"If he's anywhere near his best, he can run a decent race. He won second-up on a heavy track at Dubbo last year.
"He's a big-hearted bugger... he gives it all he's got."
Cavallo offered insight on some of his other rides on the day, starting with Gayna Williams' Vascotto, set to race in the $24,000 Allendale Merino Stud Maiden Handicap (1100 metres).
The mare ran a brave race first-up at Bathurst, losing narrowly to the odds-on pop that day.
"He'll be primed for this... he's got good early speed," he said.
"He should position OK somewhere. He came from Claire Cunningham's stables at Warwick Farm. He'll be hard to beat."
Every jockey has a preference as to what kind of surface they compete on, and Cavallo said there's a few things you need to be mindful of when competing on a heavy track like this.
"You definitely want horses who can handle the wet or bred to handle the wet," he said.
"But, some of them will handle certain types of wet and not handle others.
"You want to try to be in a forward position, especially at Wellington. It's really hard to make up ground on a small track like that.
"If you're too far back, you'll have horses copping mud in their face which obviously isn't ideal."
He's usually got plenty to do with Smith horses, but Cavallo will only ride Panaura for her tomorrow, despite a few others in action.
In the first of the day, Krissy Krystyna will look to breakthrough in the $24,000 Quains Liquor Maiden Plate (1400 metres).
The six-year-old mare is fairly deep into her prep, having registered two top-three finishes in seven outings.
Clayton Gallagher will take off from barrier 12 with 57 kilograms in a field that looks competitive.
Kody Nestor's High Handed looks set to receive a fair bit of punter's money as the four-year-old gelding comes down from Queensland and enjoys a substantial drop in class.
The only query for him would be the track as he's got limited form in the heavy going.
Loch Anton Lady will be in the same race as Vascotto, and shapes as one of two new horses in Smith's stables.
The four-year-old mare is coming off a decent hit out at Narromine and should improve this time around. Kath Bell-Pitomac will do the steering.
