Tammy Theresa Power made changes to the bank details of 68 people who were registered with Centrelink, redirecting their social security payments into accounts she controlled.

She obtained more than $47,000 over 12 months in 2018 and 2019 and tried to receive a further $14,000, the Brisbane District Court heard on Wednesday.

Power was caught through technology to detect unusual activity including analysis of recorded calls.

The court heard she obtained people's identification details - including tax file numbers and drivers licences - to make changes to the bank accounts they had registered with the government.

Power also changed people's email addresses and contact numbers by phoning Services Australia or accessing MyGov profiles.

She also admitted submitting false Medicare claims - including 30 over two days - in the names of genuine people for services not provided.

The fraud included submitting false invoices to substantiate the claims.

Some claims were rejected, but in total Power obtained $50,938.31 for the social security and Medicare fraud.

She pleaded guilty on Wednesday to three counts each of obtaining financial advantage by deception and attempting to obtain a financial advantage by deception.

At the time she committed the fraud she was on parole after serving time behind bars for obtaining $77,000 by way of Centrelink and Medicare fraud.

Judge Suzanne Sheridan said the extremely serious offending "cuts at the heart of the social security system".

"It places a burden on the whole of the community, directly impacting the 68 customers whose monies you had redirected and whose names you had used," she added.

"Your offending was persistent and calculated and sophisticated and very protracted."

Judge Sheridan sentenced Power to five years behind bars, ordering she serve a non-parole period of nine months.
