It's the first time, under the council's Australia Day-hosting rotation scheme, in a few years Molong has been a host town.
Council's meeting this week was told Molong would join Cumnock and Eugowra in hosting 2022 celebrations.
Those three towns will be visited by the official party which will include the yet-to-be-decided Australia Day ambassador.
This year Borenore/Nashdale, Cudal, Manildra and Yeoval hosted the Australia Day events.
Back in 2020 it was the turn for Mullion Creek, Cargo and Canowindra to play hosts.
The council meeting was told nominations for Citizen of the Year, Young Citizen of the Year, Community Group of the Year, the Environmental Champion of the year and Cabonne Sports person of the year will open next Monday August 30.
Nominations will be open until October 10.
Nomination forms will be available to download from council's website and Facebook page, with hard copies available at its Molong, Cudal and Canowindra offices.
All Australia Day committees/progress associations and schools will be sent nomination forms.
