The reassessments are to detect underpayments as a result of a recent review of Insurance and Care NSW, known as icare after issues were raised in the past year.
Retired Supreme Court justice Robert McDougall QC conducted the examination and handed down his review on April 30.
An icare spokesperson said each claim for the 1506 workers in Orange was different.
"Any payment made is a wage payment that is paid by the claims services providers on behalf of icare from the Workers Compensation scheme," the spokesperson said.
"As at 30 July 2021, icare has reassessed some 8604 eligible claims from across NSW. A total of 281 workers have found to have been underpaid a total of just over $3 million in weekly benefits."
The spokesman said any worker who sustained a workplace injury between October 2012 and October 2019 can now have their have their past compensation payments reassessed.
The State Insurance Regulatory Authority and icare have been able to implement 35 recommendations from the review. The NSW government will also introduce legislation to address a further eight recommendations.
Treasurer Dominic Perrottet said these additional recommendations will be adopted to strengthen governance and regulation, and clarify the roles of organisations in the NSW workers compensation system.
"icare has already adopted all the recommendations related to the organisation that do not require legislation and has programs of work addressing these. While the changes will take time we know they're necessary to ensure injured workers and NSW employers get the care and support they need long term."
Workers can register to have their weekly workers compensation payments reassessed by visiting www.icare.nsw.gov.au/assessment or calling 6714 8003.
